2022 Wrapup

Updated: Jan 5

Welcome to December! We have had 12 very busy months practically fly by--it's amazing! Thank you for keeping up with us through our journey in 2022. The year is not over yet and there are still some fun things to share with you. Take a look below!

Angel Tree Team Up!

This year for part of our Angel Tree kickoff, FCCOA teamed up with the Caldwell Tree Farm to help get some of our senior angels adopted on Black Friday! It was amazing. Thank you, Caldwell Tree Farm, for helping us get the word out about the Angel Tree Project! We look forward to seeing you next year!

Donation

Next, we received a generous donation of $1000 from Duke Energy to go towards our meal program! We are extremely excited for this.

FCCOA Executive director, Angi Connor, receives a check from Duke Energy representative Tyson Blanton.

Thank you, Duke Energy!

Annual Report Release!

You may have noticed a colorful addition to your mail in the past weeks. We are pleased have released our annual report. Now you can get a summary of what we have been doing this past year. We have been keeping busy but progressing forward. If you have not yet received a copy, here is one for you! Enjoy!

And our main focus this year to is to continue helping the seniors that we serve have food every day of the week with our Weekend Meals program. We usually have support for 5 days out of the week--but there are seven. Without this program, our seniors will go hungry two days out of the week. If you can donate towards this cause, any amount would be appreciated as we continue to make this happen!

Angel Tree Reminders

Thank you to everyone who has adopted a senior angel from the Angel Tree project--especially the adopters who answered our call yesterday! Because of you, every angel on our tree was adopted! That means nearly 250 seniors will be remembered this holiday season. Thank you so much!

Fo our adopters, be sure to get the box back to FCCOA by December 7th so we can deliver them on time.

Office Closings

Please take not that towards the end of the month, we will have several consecutive days of closure.

  • December 23rd-December 26th closed for Christmas holiday

  • December 29th-January 2nd closed for Staff training and New Years Holiday

Subaru Share the Love!

Every year, Subaru of America teams up with four national charities to raise funds for those charities--with Meals on Wheels being one of them. Being that FCCOA is a member of Meals on Wheels America, we get a share in the donations raised.

How does it work?

Every time a new Subaru vehicle is sold or leased between November 17th, 2022 and January 3rd, 2023, Subaru donates $250 to a charity. Through this program Subaru has donated more than $200 million to help those in need. If you buy or lease a Subaru during this time, be sure to select your Subaru dealer's donation to Meals on Wheels of America. Check out your local Subaru to get involved and keep an eye on our social media to see what's next!

Sharpen your oyster knives and get ready! Our 2nd annual Oyster Roast is coming up on Saturday, January 28th. Tickets go on sale first week of January. Don't forget to get yours once sales start after New Year's. Until then, stay tuned!
