Fairfield County Council on Aging
FCCOA Jumps into June
Summer is here, everyone! We've had a busy spring with Midlands Gives, Senior Day celebrations and--of course--our annual Senior Picnic! We had a wonderful time seeing everyone and even welcoming new volunteers! Take a look at our highlights then get ready for new services at the Council on Aging.
Last Month's Highlights
In May, for Senior Celebration Month, Central Midlands Area Agency on Aging hosted a Senior Day event--complete with a live band and dancefloor, vendors, a COVID clinic, speakers and door prizes. It was the first event our participants got to attend since COVID. All attendees had a great time and are already looking forward to the next trip.
We ended May with our Annual Senior Picnic! Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope you had a wonderful time. A big thank you to our neighborhood partners and resources:
Pruitt Health Ridgeway
SC Legal
Clemson Coop
Agape Hospice
SC Uplift
Fairfield Medical
Cooperative Health
SC Department of Consumer Affairs
Judy Leitner
Wellcare
And a big thank-you to the amazing, local musicians who stepped in to provide us with music: Wes Welch, Jeff Mattox & Heyward Mattox! They were amazing!

Summer Volunteers
Are you out of school and need some experience? Would you like to get out of the house and meet new people? Consider joining Meals on Wheels for the summer! We have seniors all over Fairfield County who not only need the meals but would love to meet their other neighbors. You can make a positive impact and build connections within the community by helping deliver meals. Volunteer today!

Telecare Volunteers Needed!
Do you enjoy meeting new people?
Do you like to talk?
Would you like to brighten the day of a homebound neighbor?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should join our volunteer Telecare program! If you have an hour during the week, drop by the office and lend your voice to check on our older community members.
If you have an interest in volunteering or would like additional information, please call Moriah Manning at the Fairfield County Council on Aging office: (803) 635-3015.

Crochet Request
We are looking to start a crochet club for our friends at the senior center. If you have extra crochet items--hooks and/or yarn-- that you would be willing to donate, that would be tremendously helpful and appreciated! (If you would like to help teach the sessions too, let us know!)
