Marching for Meals
Welcome to the merry month of March! Spring is almost here and with it a ton of fun. With Senior Prom, March for Meals and the upcoming the Veterans Expo, there is a lot to take in. See the details below!

Each year, the March for Meals celebration commemorates the historic day in March of 1972 when President Nixon signed into law a measure that amended the Older Americans Act of 1965 to include a national nutrition program for seniors 60 years and older. This legislation supported the rapid growth of the nationwide network of senior nutrition programs – commonly referred to as Meals on Wheels – that collectively serve more than 247 million meals to over 2.8 million seniors each year.
Throughout the month, the Meals on Wheels network is joining forces for the awareness campaign to garner the support needed to ensure these critical programs can continue to address food insecurity and malnutrition, combat social isolation, enable independence, and improve health for years to come.
You can help Meals on Wheels Fairfield--not just by monetary donations, but by giving some of your time to help us reach our senior neighbors. If you have an hour a week--from 11-12NOON, you can make such a difference in the lives of so many around Fairfield County by providing timely meals and companionship to fight social isolation.
If this sounds like you, call our office at 803-635-3015 and learn more about what it takes to volunteer at FCCOA!
