Executive Director
Fairfield County Council on Aging

Are you a passionate leader committed to improving the lives of older adults? The Fairfield County Council on Aging (FCCOA) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Executive Director to lead our organization and advance our mission of serving seniors throughout Fairfield County.
For more than 40 years, FCCOA has provided essential services that help older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their community. Our programs include Meals on Wheels, congregate dining, senior center activities, transportation assistance, and supportive in-home services.
Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial management, program oversight, community engagement, and daily operations of the agency. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to ensure the continued growth and success of FCCOA.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all agency operations and programs.
- Manage organizational finances, budgets, and funding resources.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and grant requirements.
- Supervise and support agency staff.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders and funding partners.
- Lead fundraising, grant development, and resource development efforts.
- Serve as the public representative and advocate for older adults in Fairfield County.
- Support the Board of Directors in governance and strategic planning activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of management or executive leadership experience.
- Experience in nonprofit administration, aging services, human services, or public sector management preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, grant administration, and personnel supervision.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders.

Bookkeeper / Office Manager
Fairfield County Council on Aging is hiring for the position of Bookkeeper / Office Manager
Classification: Full-Time, non-exempt, 35 hours/per week, Monday – Friday
Salary Range: $45,000 - $52,000
Organization Overview: The Fairfield County Council on Aging is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults in Fairfield County through nutrition services, homemaker services, transportation assistance, wellness programs, outreach, and senior center activities.
Position Summary: The Bookkeeper / Office Manager is responsible for managing the daily financial and administrative operations of the organization. This position maintains accurate financial records, supports payroll and accounts payable functions, assists with grant and program reporting, and oversees general office operations to ensure efficient and professional administration of agency services.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, trustworthy, and able to work independently in a fast-paced nonprofit environment with multiple funding sources and programs.
Reports To: Executive Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare bank deposits and reconcile monthly bank statements.
- Assist with payroll processing and related documentation.
- Maintain general ledger and financial files.
- Track expenditures and revenues by program and funding source.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and budget monitoring.
- Support annual audit preparation and provide requested documentation.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, grant requirements, and financial procedures.
- Monitor office purchasing and maintain vendor records.
Administrative & Office Management
- Manage daily office operations and administrative procedures.
- Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide professional customer service.
- Maintain office filing systems, records retention, and confidential documents.
- Coordinate office supplies and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with preparation of board packets, reports, correspondence, and meeting materials.
- Support human resource functions including personnel files and onboarding paperwork.
- Maintain calendars, schedules, and agency forms.
- Assist with data entry and reporting for agency programs and grants.
Program & Organizational Support
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and program staff.
- Assist with special events, fundraising activities, and community outreach efforts.
- Help ensure compliance with nonprofit, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support agency operations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of bookkeeping and office administration experience.
- Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and office management practices.
- Ability to prepare accurate financial and administrative records.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interact professionally with older adults, staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment with frequent interaction with staff, seniors, volunteers, and the public.

Home Care Aide
Position Summary: The Home Care Aide provides supportive in-home services to clients in accordance with the established Home Care Service Plan to promote client well-being, safety, independence, and quality of life. The Home Care Aide reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for delivering services in a professional, compassionate, and confidential manner.
Reporting Relationship: The Home Care Aide is directly responsible to and reports to the Executive Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Client Care and Service Delivery
- Provide in-home services as outlined in each client’s individualized Homemaker Service Plan. Services may include, but are not limited to:
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
- Washing dishes and light housekeeping tasks
- Changing bed linens and making beds
- Cleaning bathrooms and designated client living areas
- Observe the client’s environment and physical condition during service delivery and promptly report any concerns, changes in condition, safety hazards, or unusual observations to the Executive Director or designated supervisor.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to assigned duties and client services.
- Submit all required reports, activity logs, timesheets, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Safety and Knowledge Requirements
- Maintain a working knowledge of proper housekeeping methods and safe use, handling, and storage of cleaning products and agents to prevent injury or hazardous conditions.
- Demonstrate proper techniques for bed making, changing linens, lifting, and body mechanics to reduce the risk of injury.
- Apply appropriate personal care techniques while maintaining client dignity, comfort, and safety.
Professional Standards
- Maintain a professional attitude and conduct while representing Fairfield County Council on Aging.
- Participate in all required training sessions, staff meetings, and continuing education opportunities as assigned.
- Present a professional appearance with clothing that is clean, neat, safe, and appropriate for the work environment.
- Maintain positive and respectful relationships with clients, families, coworkers, and community partners.
Policy Compliance
- Adhere to all agency policies and procedures as outlined in the Personnel Manual and Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information and comply with all privacy, computer, internet usage, and confidentiality requirements established by the agency and funding sources.
Additional Duties
The Home Care Aide may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support agency operations and client services.
